Our Tips For A Smaller 2020 Holiday Celebration

November 30, 2020

We can all agree that Covid-19 has thrown a wrench into our holiday celebrations this year. While many of us are tired of living through a global pandemic, we thought there’s no reason why we can’t brainstorm some ideas on how to brighten up the 2020 holiday season and enjoy a smaller 2020 holiday celebration with your loved ones.

Let’s Talk Turkey Breast

Cooking up a 15 lb turkey usually yields a lot of leftovers, which when split between several families, is great! But with just one family or a small group, a few turkey breasts are equally delicious and require far less work! We have selected a few great recipes from Martha Stewart, including the classic, Oven-Roasted Turkey Breast. You can always spice things up a little but and try the Chile-Citrus Turkey Breast. If you aren’t willing to give up on stuffing, you can always try out the Stuffed Turkey Breast with sausage and sour-cherry bread stuffing, or Stuffed Turkey Breast with Apricot Jam. Any of these choices will result in a delicious holiday meal without the additional 10 lbs of turkey!

Try Other Types of Poultry

If turkey isn’t your thing, you could always try slightly smaller fowl, like duck, chicken or goose. We made BBC’s Orange Stuffed Christmas Duck and it was seriously delicious. You could also fancy up a chicken to make it holiday-worthy, like this Walnut-Stuffed Chicken Roulades, or Taste of Home’s Christmas Day Chicken. For something just slightly more elevated, we recommend trying Gordon Ramsay’s Christmas Roast Goose.

Don’t Forget Ham!

For some, Christmas isn’t really Christmas without a baked ham and there’s nothing quite like a glistening, golden brown ham. It’s a dish that’s bursting with Yuletide appeal, and while it’s still quite large, you can enjoy the leftovers for days to come. In fact, we found 20 ingenious ways to use leftover holiday Ham!
